For the month of September, I will be donating 5% of all poker profits to the Red Cross to help flood victims in the state of Louisiana. The state of Louisiana was ravaged by record setting rainfall. Governor John Bel Edwards recently said the damage is upwards of $8.7 billion for the state. The Red Cross is calling this the worst natural disaster since Super Storm Sandy. Early estimates by the Red Cross, show their relief effort will cost $30-$40 million dollars. The Red Cross is asking for help, as many families begin to piece their lives back together. As poker players, we have a unique set
of skills that we make a living off of. This is a great opportunity for poker players to help those in need. I will be donating 5% in the month of September and encourage other players to donate as well.
Anyone looking to donate can text LAFLOODS to 90999 to make an automatic $10 donation on their phone bill. If you are looking to donate more, you can visit this link: American Red Cross. The following link from the Red Cross explains what exactly they do in helping with flood relief. Some examples of their help include serving hot meals, first aid, and providing safe and dry shelter. More about their relief efforts can be read here: Flood Relief.
Leave a comment, share on twitter and more importantly, donate to help the victims in Louisiana. Let’s spread awareness about this terrible disaster and help donate as much as possible to the Red Cross.
